Software Development Engineer - Search Analytics

A9.com, the search technology subsidiary of Amazon.com and the leader in Product Search, is looking for outstanding engineers to join our team in improving the quality and relevance of search. You will work on technology that powers one of the largest search engines on the web. This is an exciting opportunity to design and implement scalable systems that process, summarize, and provide a web interface to large volumes of user behavior data, and to devise methods for evaluating search relevance. You will work in A9's small company environment, but have access to the resources of Amazon.com, one of the world's leading Internet companies.

Besides possessing rock-solid software engineering skills and a passion for excellence, you will need to be a strong communicator and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality products. You will need skills in the following areas:

expertise in designing and developing systems using object-oriented programming and relational databases
two to five years of implementation experience with at least three of the following: Java, Perl, SQL, PHP, Linux
algorithm design and analysis
engineering process, design and testing methodologies

You must have an advanced degree in computer science or equivalent industry experience. Domain expertise in the following areas are pluses:

information retrieval
data mining and machine learning
exposure to MapReduce paradigm and Hadoop
evaluating relevance of search results
systems for clickstream and log files analysis
