A9.com, the search technology subsidiary of Amazon.com, is looking for highly motivated engineers with Japanese language expertise to help improve the quality of product search on Amazon.jp, and other Asian e-commerce sites. As part of A9’s Relevance team, you’ll work on a variety of problems related to the Japanese search experience, ranging from relevance ranking to spelling correction to query classification, with a focus on optimizing for the unique linguistic and cultural attributes of Japanese. You'll work in A9’s small-company environment, but have access to the resources of Amazon.com, one of the world's leading Internet companies. You must be an innovative thinker, a strong communicator, and a rock-solid engineer with a record of working on industrial-strength software systems.

Requirements:

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience
• C++ development in a Unix environment; Java, Python and Perl experience a plus
• Algorithm design and analysis
• Fluent in Japanese; fluency in additional Asian languages such as Mandarin or Korean a plus
• Domain expertise in ONE OR MORE of the following fields:
