Job Summary:

This is a Backend Software QA Engineer position within a dynamic, fast paced and focused team. The Software QA Engineer will work closely with fellow QA engineers, development engineers and product managers. In order to be an effective team member you will have expertise in testing backend components for high traffic websites, experience with customized QA and development tools, and the agility to operate within short release cycles. The Software QA Engineer is responsible for understanding design specifications as well as designing and running all tests.

Responsibilities:

• Own the quality for several components and features
• Design test strategies, write test plans, write test scripts and execute test cases
• Own testing progress for key components
• Identify bug trends and drive resolution
• Write scripts to automate testing
• Participate in operational activities
• Black Box testing

• Expertise in testing backend components for high traffic websites
• Expert in Functional and Performance testing using both automation tools and manual techniques
• Expertise with at least one scripting language Ruby, Perl, Python, or similar language
• Experience in designing and developing test strategies and test harnesses for large scale web applications
• Expert in Web architecture and technologies
• Experience in GUI Web Front End Functional testing
• Strong working knowledge of Linux, Shell scripting, HTML, SQL, Apache, and JavaScript
• Familiar with XML & JSON
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred
